Design References for AI · 2026

Goodmake is a product I'm building to help designers use AI more intentionally: keep their own skills and taste in the loop to shape the output, instead of letting AI decide what good looks like.

You collect screenshots, mark exactly what matters, and hand them to any AI as one clear brief. The output gets better straight away, because the AI no longer has to guess.

Capture in one key

Press ⌘⌃⇧4 anywhere and the screenshot lands in your Inbox. Paste and drop work too, and screen recordings become GIFs.

The capture loop. It needs no Screen Recording permission.

Sort, and say why

Drag screenshots into groups, and note what to borrow and what to leave out, for the whole group and for each image.

Projects, groups and an Inbox on one canvas. 1–9 files an image, ⌫ discards it, ⌘Z undoes anything.

Point at the exact detail

Click a spot or drag around an area, then add a note. Each mark gets a label like 2A, so it means the same thing to you and to the model, plus its own close-up.

Pins and boxes, numbered per image. Close-ups are cut from the full-size original.

One brief for any AI

Every note is tied to a group, an image or a mark. Paste the brief into Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, or connect the MCP and let your agent read your references directly.

The brief and its numbered reference sheet, with the token cost shown before you paste.
Claude Code reading the selection over MCP. Claude Desktop, Cursor and Codex work too.

You pick, you say why. Agents read; they never file, note or mark.

Outcome

Goodmake is live and free, with no account and nothing uploaded. Screenshots stay in your browser, or in a folder on your Mac.
