Omada Health
Virtual Care for Chronic Conditions · 2014–2017
Omada's program combines health coaching, peer support, a weekly curriculum and connected devices to help people build lasting habits and lose weight.
Over three years I designed end to end across iOS, Android and web, from the trackers to the group board, plus a design system and the program's printed kits.
- Role
- Product Designer
- Platform
- iOS, Android, web
Small rewards for tracking
Participants who track meals regularly do better in the program. We tested Reactions: a short, positive moment right after logging a meal, to see if it would lead to more tracking.
- Mobile first Brought iOS and Android to parity with web within a year
- New trackers The food and activity trackers later shaped the web product
- Microsurveys One-tap questions that also unlock relevant resources
A group to go through it with
Participants start the program with a group. We redesigned the discussion board so they could quickly find topics that matter to them, on web and on their phone.
Outcome
Mobile reached parity with web and then pushed it forward. A shared design system, built with a front-end engineer, gave every team the same language. It was three years that made me a senior product designer.
